JSON Formatter

Pretty-print, minify and validate JSON, with a clear error message when it’s broken.

Why it's useful: pasting an API response or a config file here immediately shows whether it's valid JSON, and pretty-prints it with two-space indentation so nested objects are easy to read. Minify does the opposite — useful for shrinking a payload before sending it somewhere size-sensitive.

Why does it say my JSON is invalid?

Common causes: a trailing comma after the last item, single quotes instead of double quotes, or an unquoted key. The error message includes the position where parsing failed.

About the JSON Formatter

The JSON Formatter pretty-prints JSON with clean indentation so it is easy to read, minifies it to the smallest size for sending over the network, and validates it as you go with clear error messages that point to the problem. Developers use it for API responses, config files, logs and debugging — and because it runs in your browser, private data never leaves your machine.

How to use the JSON Formatter

  1. Paste your JSON into the input box.
  2. Click Format to indent it neatly, or Minify to strip all whitespace.
  3. If the JSON is invalid, read the error message to find and fix the problem.
  4. Copy the output.
