Barcode Generator

Make Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A and other barcodes, then download them as PNG or SVG.

Which type do I need? Use Code 128 for internal labels, inventory and shipping — it encodes any text. Retail products sold in shops need EAN-13 (or UPC-A in North America) with a number officially issued by GS1; making one up will clash with real products. The last digit of EAN and UPC codes is a check digit — enter one digit less and it’s calculated for you. Keep dark bars on a light background for reliable scanning.

Frequently asked questions

Which barcode type should I use?

Use EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products, Code 128 for general text and inventory labels, and ITF-14 for shipping cartons.

Can I make a barcode for a product to sell in shops?

You can generate the image, but retail barcodes need a registered number from GS1 so shops can identify your product.

Why won’t my EAN-13 value work?

EAN-13 needs exactly 12 or 13 digits, and the last digit is a check digit calculated from the others.
