Text Similarity Checker

Paste two texts to see how much they overlap — by words, by vocabulary and by shared phrases.

0%

–
Word-frequency match (cosine)
–
Shared vocabulary (Jaccard)
–
Shared 3-word phrases

What the numbers mean: the headline score is the cosine similarity of word frequencies — how alike the two texts are in what words they use and how often. Jaccard shows the share of unique words they have in common, and the phrase score catches copied word sequences. This is a quick lexical comparison, not a plagiarism database check.

About the Text Similarity Checker

The Text Similarity Checker compares two pieces of text and shows how similar they are as a percentage, with the words and phrases they share highlighted. Use it to compare drafts and revisions, check whether a rewrite is different enough from its source, spot copied passages between documents or see how closely two product descriptions match.

How to use the Text Similarity Checker

  1. Paste the first text into box A.
  2. Paste the second text into box B.
  3. Read the similarity percentage.
  4. Review the highlighted shared words and phrases to see exactly where the texts overlap.

Frequently asked questions

How is the similarity percentage calculated?

It combines three measures: how closely the word frequencies match (cosine similarity), how much vocabulary the texts share (Jaccard index) and how many three-word phrases appear in both. You can ignore common words, case and punctuation.

Is this a plagiarism checker?

It compares two texts you provide. It does not search the internet or a database, so it cannot tell you whether a text has been copied from elsewhere online.

Are my texts stored?

No. The comparison runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
