Churn Rate Calculator
Work out customer churn, retention, average customer lifetime and the recurring revenue you lost.
Churn rate
Formula: churn = customers lost ÷ customers at the start of the period. Longer periods are converted to a monthly rate with compounding (1 − (1 − churn)1/months), and monthly churn is annualised the same way — so 3% a month is about 31% a year, not 36%. New customers don’t reduce churn; they’re tracked separately as growth.

Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate churn rate?
Divide the customers lost during a period by the customers you had at the start, and multiply by 100. Losing 30 of 1,000 customers in a month is 3% monthly churn.
What is a good churn rate?
For B2B SaaS, monthly churn under 1–2% is strong. Consumer subscriptions often see 5–7% or more a month.
How does churn relate to customer lifetime?
Average customer lifetime is roughly 1 ÷ churn rate. At 5% monthly churn, customers stay about 20 months on average.
